I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra that's recently been making some squeaking noises as I drive to work in the mornings. I took it into the shop, dropped it off overnight. The guys are really nice, and was really impressed that they drove me home from the shop. The next morning I got a call. They gave me an estimate for $3400 worth of repairs; a busted wheel bearing, air intake boot, and timing chain. The timing chain alone was $2300. When I heard that, I thought about scrapping my car altogether... They told me that the bearing was dangerous and needed to be replaced right away ($1k). I called my dad, and he called his mechanic in Houston who said he could fix the bearings for $700 and replace the timing chain for $1400. Since I wasn't sure if my car would make the trip to Houston, I had them fix the bearings, and drove that night to Houston. The mechanic there inspected my vehicle, and informed me that nothing was wrong with the timing chain, but that a busted UJoint and a rear brake were causing the problem. They're fixing it now for $400. I'm very frustrated with my experience here. I won't be coming back, and I'm not even sure if they were telling me the truth about my wheel bearings. I wish I had asked for the old parts, so that I could take it to someone I trusted for inspection.

PARENTS OF STUDENTS. Three times now I have sent my kids to McSpaddens when they had car troubles. Both are students in Austin and I was worried I would get stuck with work that was not required at an excessive price. I can diagnose an auto problem if I can get my hands on the car but I am out of town. On two occasions they found the problem was not as serious as I thought. I paid very little. Another time they found the problem was actually under warranty!. If your kid is in Austin and you are not. you can trust these guys

Where do I start? A brake job I needed was origionally quoted at $350. Before I new it, some fast-talking sleazeball ncreased the price from $350 to $750 to $1400 to $1700, and I was supposed to be thankful that they didn't charge me $1900 because of a (bullshit) $200 discount. Then the brakes were vibrating terribly. Thankfully they honored their warranty, and fixed the vibration, but it doesn't stop there. Afterwards, I reviewed the invoice more closely with a friend who is a mechanic. We discovered they charged me for resurfacing the rotors, when they installed new rotors, and many other mysterios, vague, or duplicate charges. Adding insult to injury, my AC was having problems due to a loose A.C. belt. So I asked them to tighten it. They charged me $50 to tighten an AC belt!!! Then, when I tried to recharge the A.C. after, suddenly my A.C has a MASSICE leak that wasn't there before, and I know it because I tried to charge the A.C. a week earlier and didn't see the massive puffs of freon escaping into the atmosphere that I do today. Please avoid!!!! I'm mad at myself, that I allowed myself to be taken advantage of like this, but for some reason they saw me as a cash-cow (I'm not rich).

Brought my car to two different mechanics before mcspadden, one said wheel bearing and tires, other said brakes. Brought it to mcspadden and they had my wheel.bearing changed and car back to me within 24 hours. My car is now driving better than new, and they did for over one hundred dollars less than I had been quoted by the other place. They will definitely have a returning customer right here!

Just had the alternator replaced in my son's 1996 Isuzu Trooper. Quick turn around, and very nice place. Highly recommend. Thanks.

McSpadden's is great! So friendly and knowledgable and got my Subaru fixed up and ready to go with an hour and a half because of my tight schedule. Free WIFI too. I will be coming back again for all my auto needs, and I am happy to say that I've found a new go-to mechanic in Austin!

I called in because something was wrong with the front of my car. One of the parts was hanging off and dragging on the ground. I asked them if I could come in and have it looked at. The man I spoke with, Ryan was very helpful and assured me it would be no problem to fix. I came in to drop off my car, only waited about 15 minutes until he gave me my keys back and didn't even charge me anything! The problem was completely fixed and I was out the door real quick! I'm sure I will be using them again.

Great service, fast completion and they took the time to educate me on the issue with my Land Rover and exactly what they would be doing to fix the problem. Very happy with the service that was provided. I think I have found my new go-to mechanic! Thank you Byron & McSpadden's Automotive!

Don't know about all the negative reviews, but I've been bringing our fleet of cars to McSpadden's in Bee Cave since it opened. Ryan and his other front desk folks have been great in dealing with all the issues for all the cars. They include a 1994 Suburban, a 2007 RAV4, a 2011 Silverado, a 2009 Ford Focus, 1996 Geo Prism, and 2005 Vibe. ALL issues have been dealt with quickly, with aplomb, and with a pretty good guestimate on the cost. The old Suburban needed a steering knuckle which GM no longer provides, Ryan hunted up a used one from a wrecking yard for a small cost of what a new one, if available, would have run. More than once, we've run a car in for some small problem, and it has been fixed, and us back on the road, for NO cost. WE are totally satisfied, and will be return customers again and again, just because they do what they say. And, if you have a big expensive repair coming, they let you know; unlike what some of the other posters say. Proof of what I'm saying is that I'm taking the Focus in on Monday for another service; and odds are great it will be totally satisfactory.

Great experience here! McSpadden's came through for me when I was stuck & needed a new radiator. They even had to take quite a bit of extra time since I'd had a previous little fender bender up front, to get it in there & connected properly, and didn't charge me any more. It may have been a little pricier, had I shopped around, but I'm safely on the road again, confident I got a fair deal and overall impressed by their care & thoroughness. Plus, the guys there were so nice and entertaining while I waited. The cute young man who drove me home after I dropped it off was even a pleasant bonus. My experience w/ McS's was great. I'm glad I didn't check reviews here first, like I usually do. I went there because it was Saturday - they were open & close to home if I had to walk from there. They worked me in for diagnostics and an estimate within an hour, even though they were super busy. I'm grateful to Rudy, Mickey & the guys @ McSpadden's - thanks y'all!
